floor warden

in all the petty tasks one is required to perform in the name of office drudgery, is there any greater indignity than being a floor warden?

i think not.

i have to wear an orange baseball cap, no one listens to me, much less takes me seriously, and on top of all that, i would abandon my post in a second if there was an actual emergency.

    dude, are you a floor warden too?

    if you are, you'll be able to sympathize with this email i wrote to the facilities manager of our office to rat out the people who didn't obey me:

    I recently had to sit in a dunk tank in the parking lot while the children of my co-workers threw softballs to drop me into the 52 degree water on a 60 degree day. Longest 20 minutes of my life.
